Fangwen Zhao

Predoctoral Fellow

Fangwen joined the Bock lab in Sep. 2016, having previously completed her Bachelor's in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada). During her Bachelor's, she was exposed to and got involved in projects at many different research interfaces, including computational biology (P. Pavlidis lab), neuroimmunology (C. Beasley lab), and cancer epigenomics (M. Hirst lab). These ultimately led her to her current project that combines epigenomics and rare diseases, called PAD.map. Here, she uses large-scale epigenome profiling to identify patterns in chromatin dysregulation in primary antibody deficiencies (PADs), a heterogeneous and largely unresolved subgroup of primary immunodeficiencies.
